Mandurodam Park

Intro

On May, 15, 2024, we all went to Madurodam Park. This is a miniature park of the entirety of Holland. We all didn’t know what to expect, including my uncle, nobody had done this in previous years. The park had some interactive games, a gift shop, and even a short 10 minute show. As we walked through the park we played the games and looked at the different sections of the park. This was a fun park to walk through because we were able to see all different parts of Holland without having to travel to a lot of different places.

What is it

Madurodam Park is a miniature park of Holland that opened in 1952. There are many different places and cities to see. From the countryside to the city. Each building is 25 times smaller than the actual building it was inspired by. There are three sections to this park. There is Water World, Innovation Island, and the City Center. Water World consists of water attractions like putting crates on ships, driving boats, and putting out fire on a boat. In Water World you can look at cruise ships and walk over bridges to look at the inner workings of the waterways. In this section you can also go to an interactive show where you hear the story of The Netherlands and how the city is surrounded by water and how the people made it safe to live there. Innovation island is where we see all the innovation in The Netherlands, like science buildings and hospitals. Lastly, there is the city center, this is where there were more historic buildings as well as some new buildings. As Holland grows and changes, the park grows and changes with it.

What made it Interesting?

What made this park interesting was the detail and accuracy of the park. It was fun to walk around the park and see places we had been and places we were going to go. The Peace Palace was the most interesting to me because we were at the Peace Palace the day before. Using the Peace Palace as comparison, the accuracy of it was fun to look at. The miniature version of the Peace Palace was just as cool and just as detailed as the real Peace Palace, I have inserted some pictures to compare. While walking around Dr. Cannon, the professor on the trip, showed us places in Amsterdam we were planning on going and seeing. My last favorite part to look at was the tulip farm. The Netherlands is well known for their tulips, so, naturally, there was a mini tulip farm. The interactive part of this was paying two euros to get a tulip pin. This was fun and all the girls got one!

Conclusion

I would go back to Madurodam Park. We had such a fun time, most of the girls stayed longer. It was fun to look at all the buildings as well as play the interactive parts of the park. This was also a good way to get to know the girls, since this was only our third day in The Netherlands, we didn’t know each other very well, so being able to walk around and talk to new people made this a good and fun start to the trip.
